Our Story - Two Families Passion for Catching Fish

At Teach a Kid to Fish we're more than just selling fishing gear online —we're passionate about helping families discover the joy of fishing together. We hope to empower anyone to be able to catch fish confidently and safely with children. 

Our story began with a simple act of friendship: one of our founders, who grew up fishing, taught the other founder basic techniques of fishing local resources close to home. From there they now regularly enjoy fly, salt, surf and freshwater fishing as two families with growing children. 

Over the years, this recreational hobby turned into a shared mission. We realized that there were so many families out there eager to introduce their kids to fishing, but the learning curve could feel daunting. That's when we decided to make it easier—by offering high-quality, storage friendly fishing rods, tackle, and simple, beginner-friendly resources and videos. Our kits always include a net and pliers to make the experience as handsfree, as possible, for both you and the fish. 

Fishing is more than just a pastime—it's an opportunity to get outside, relax, and create memories that last a lifetime.
